The 2016 World Industrial Design Conference in Liangzhu, China just concluded last week. This global event was co-founded by the China Industrial Design Association, The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Shejiang Provincial People’s Government, and other national design organizations, institutions, universities, and colleges from over 26 nations around the world.
The WIDC is an important platform in which businessmen can come together for industrial design cooperation and discussion. Industrial design and engineering plays a pivotal role during this time of global industrialization and technological innovation. Following the theme of “Design and Productivity”, the conference discussed industrial development and focused on industrial priorities such as product quality, industrial transformation and improvement, and the manufacturing value chain. Both aspects covered will be of great importance in the years to come, and will likely accelerate the industrial design improvement plans Chinese Vice-Premier Ma Kai called for.
During this 3-day event, the Award Ceremony of China Excellent Industrial Design also took place. This was an event in which all applicants who submitted design work for the China Excellent Industrial Design Award were showcased, emphasizing the latest and most high-tech products. For example, some latest Chinese design acknowledgements included those of national tenure, like intelligent robots and investment banking.
Of the many qualified candidates, Taishan Sports’ T9 bike design was awarded the Gold China Excellent Industrial Design Award, becoming the first bike brand to ever win this honor. Our entire domestic and international team are delighted and excited to have received such a prestigious award. Stay tuned for new developments and continuous innovation will emerge from Taishan.
